DAY 1. TO BEGIN. Beginnings aren’t always beautiful (as seen above lol) but I think they are almost always magical. (And in case you are wondering that is my version of a downward dog and a side angle pose.)
Today, I will start a 30 DAY CHALLENGE of yoga and meditation to help combat my #anxiety. Anxiety has always been a very real struggle in my life and as I’ve mentioned it’s been a bit higher the past couple weeks. Which has led me to a lot of self exploration and ultimately to exploring yoga and meditation as solution. Last week, I attended a Deep Stretch and Meditation at We Yogi’s led by @deandreayoga and it ironically felt like it “woke me up” and I mean that in the sense that it brought a lot of clarity to me. I have such a difficult time being in the present moment but this class some how got me there. I’ve done a lot of other meditation classes and apps but this was one was different. For the first i felt like I was exactly where I was suppose to be.
So I left that class and I ran with it! I went to a couple other yoga classes this past week and have meditated on my own every day since. Because this process has felt so cathartic to me I decided to try a challenge. And because I loved my first experience so much I figured it would make the most sense to follow @deandreayoga 30 day challenge.
All of the challenges are between 5 and 30 minutes and a mixture of yoga, stretching and meditation. This is exactly what I was looking for.
My main goal is to work through some anxiety and ruminating by focusing on the moment and my breath. Your breath can be a very grounding tool for anyone who struggles with anxiety. My other goal is to work on a little flexibility. As you can see there is room for improvement! i can’t wait to share the process and the results!
