Introducing my dear friend Abby Law! Social media expertee and dog lovie!
I am highlighting Abby because I am inspired by her courage! Just over a year ago she left her executive level job at a prestigious record label to spend more time volunteering and helping build small businesses. Here’s the quote that speaks most to her and making that transition:
Everyday is an opportunity to change things for the better!
What does this quote mean to you?
My life mantra has always been “believe in the greater good,” and this totally falls in line with that mantra. I try and do at least one thing that betters the world around me every day. What if every person lived their life that way? What a better world we would live in!
In one sentence, What do you do:
I work with small businesses in Nashville, TN assisting them in a variety of areas like marketing, social media, content development and my favorite– I rescue dogs.
Why do you do it?
I do it because I love helping in areas that I am passionate about. Weather I am passionate about the people I work for or what I’m doing. I think it’s important to find passion in everything we do! I am truly inspired by the clients I work for and find passion in helping them achieve their goals. That same passion is the #1 reason why I also volunteer and am on the fundraising committee for Proverbs 12:10 Animal Rescue. I have been completely obsessed with dogs my entire life and now I am able to do some good and help find animals homes!! Dan (my boyfriend) and I foster for them so there is often an extra dog or two at our place but I certainly don’t mind that! I love animal rescue and the people involved with Proverbs are some of the most kind hearted and wonderful people that I have ever had the pleasure of knowing. Adopt, don’t shop!
What was your number one motivation for working for yourself?
Flexibility!!!! Enough said. 🙂What has been your BIGGEST SUCCESS?
I consider my biggest success as being able to know when I was unhappy in my career and make a move to better myself, even though it was difficult. I thought I had entered into my dream job at only 24 years old. It was everything that I had ever wanted to do. I had reached my ultimate career goal at 24! And then, I realized that I did not like it, not even a little. Where do you go from there? I really didn’t know but I knew I didn’t want to spend the next 30+ years doing something that I didn’t love, so I had to make a bold decision. Give up an executive level job at a prestigious record label and a large salary for unemployment and it was the best decision I have ever made. Our personal happiness should be our number one priority and sometimes the daily grind makes you forget that. What is your # 1 piece of advice to any of our readers?
Be yourself because there is no one else like you!!! Make decisions for yourself and find personal happiness, when you do, everything around you will fall into place. Also, do some good and make an impact. As individuals we have this amazing opportunity in life to make things better, to affect change, so go do it! It will make you feel good too.
PS: Since this is a FASHION Blog tell us what you feel most confident in!
I feel the most confident in a pair of black skinny jeans, a tank, a great jacket and a kickass pair of shoes (shoes are always the staple for me). You can never go wrong! Chic, flattering and versatile.
