This past year things changed a bit for me in terms of style. Here I’ll tell you about how I changed my style in 2017. Being in the blogging world sometimes it feels like all we need is more, more, more. I was shopping more than ever but my wardrobe didn’t feel any bigger. In fact, It felt smaller.
And the worst part? My outfits weren’t getting any better. Strangely enough it seemed I had less to choose from. I felt like I was more creative with my looks and had more to choose from when I wasn’t shopping as often.
The only thing that changed were my options, I had more options than ever and it somewhat paralyzed me from making decisions or seeing creative combinations. Simply put, there was too much to choose from. It was like an overwhelming menu.
Here’s how I solved this problem:
I divulged- I went through my closet and got rid of everything I wasn’t consistently wearing. I threw clothes into groups of I Love, Not Sure, Trash and Donations. I got rid of almost everything but the I Loves and a select few not sures! More details on strategies to purging your closet here.I was left with all my staples and of course some of my favorite flare pieces. Being in my closet feels good again and I am not overwhelmed by options. I think style should be simple and for many of us we over think it.
To me a great outfit is a couple staple pieces combined with a fun flare jacket, shoes or piece of jewelry. I typically like to stick to one stand out item. In this look, I kept things real simple because I wanted to show just how easy its is to look fashionable. You can’t go wrong with a white tee, levis and an oversized coat.
